Faculty members of the Center for Materials Innovation and Technology (CMIT) were delighted to meet and engage with Professor Chenming Hu during the Open Innovation Conference 2025 at VinUniversity. Professor Hu is a TSMC Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, and is widely recognized as the pioneer who laid the foundation for FinFET transistor technology – a cornerstone of modern nanoscale devices.

He is also the driving force behind the BSIM transistor model, an open standard that has been adopted worldwide in chip design and manufacturing. His groundbreaking contributions have profoundly shaped the semiconductor industry over several decades.
