
Hanoi, June 8, 2026 – The Center for Materials Innovation & Technology (CMIT) at VinUniversity was honored to host Academician Seeram Ramakrishna, Tsinghua University, one of the world’s leading authorities in nanofibers, advanced materials, and wearable technologies. The seminar brought together faculty members, researchers, and students to explore the next frontier of intelligent wearable systems powered by advances in materials science and artificial intelligence.
During his presentation, Prof. Ramakrishna shared his vision for the future of wearable technologies, highlighting the transition from conventional thin-film devices to fiber-based wearable systems capable of continuously monitoring complex physiological and neurological signals. He discussed the key scientific and engineering challenges that remain—including scalability, self-powered operation, intelligent sensing, wireless communication, and systems integration—and demonstrated how innovations in nanotechnology, biomimetic sensors, artificial intelligence, and fiber-based energy systems are driving the development of next-generation intelligent wearables.
The seminar provided valuable insights into the convergence of advanced materials, electronics, and AI, illustrating how interdisciplinary research is enabling wearable technologies for healthcare, personalized medicine, and human-machine interaction.

Academician Seeram Ramakrishna is a Chair Professor at Tsinghua University and Director of the iWearables Center. Recognized globally for his pioneering contributions to nanofibers and smart materials, he has authored more than 500 Q1 journal publications, is among the World’s Top 1% Most Cited Researchers, and has an H-index of 227. He is a Fellow of numerous prestigious engineering academies, including ACAE, UK FREng, SAE, INAE, AAAS, and ASME, and will serve as a Plenary Speaker at ICMIT 2026.
