The Center for Materials Innovation and Technology (CMIT) at VinUniversity is delighted to announce that Assistant Professor Kumar Vikrant has been appointed to the Early Career Editorial Board of Elsevier’s Gas Science and Engineering, a premier Q1 journal dedicated to advancing research in gas science, energy technologies, and sustainable engineering solutions for the global energy sector.

Prof. Phan Manh Huong
Prof. Phan Manh Huong (TOP 1% Scientist, APS Fellow) serves as the Scientific Director of CMIT. Internationally recognized for his pioneering work in nanomagnetism, spintronics, smart sensors, and 2D quantum materials for advanced computing, biomedical, and energy applications, Prof. Huong balances his research leadership with prominent international editorial responsibilities. He is a Co-Founder and Managing Editor of the Journal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices, a journal dedicated to advanced materials applications in electronics, energy, and biomedicine. Additionally, he serves as an Editorial Board Member for Nature Portfolio’s Scientific Reports, a highly cited mega-journal spanning all natural sciences, and as an Editor for MDPI’s Applied Sciences, which addresses innovative technology systems. He also contributes his expertise to the International Advisory & Editorial Oversight Committee of the Journal of Electronic Materials (Springer/TMS), evaluating critical developments in electronic, photonic, and magnetic device materials.

Prof. Chun-Yang Yin
Prof. Chun-Yang Yin (TOP 2% Scientist), a Principal Investigator at CMIT and a Professor at CECS, brings deep expertise in advanced functional materials, carbon science, sustainable chemical engineering, life cycle assessment (LCA), and decarbonization technologies. His academic stewardship is reflected across several high-impact editorial appointments. Prof. Yin serves as an Editorial Board Member for Nature Portfolio’s Scientific Reports, helping oversee original research across engineering and the physical sciences. In addition, he is an Editorial Board Member for Elsevier’s Hydrometallurgy, a journal focused on aqueous processing of minerals-based metals, particularly critical minerals such as rare earths. He is also an Editorial Board Member for Materials (MDPI) – section ”carbon materials”.

Prof. Phan Duc Anh
Prof. Phan Duc Anh (2025 DCMP Medalist) is a Principal Investigator at CMIT and an Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS). His research bridges physical engineering and data science, focusing on AI in materials science, materials simulation, molecular dynamics, quantum machine learning, metamaterials, and condensed matter physics. At CMIT, he spearheads research establishing intelligent frameworks that merge machine learning with physics-based modeling to accelerate the design of novel materials. Supporting the peer-review and publishing ecosystem, Prof. Phan serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices (JSAMD), published by Elsevier in partnership with Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This journal highlights critical international breakthroughs in the synthesis, processing, and application of advanced materials and structures for modern electronic, photonic, energy, and biomedical devices.
Prof. Nguyen-Dang Tung
Prof. Nguyen-Dang Tung is a Principal Investigator at CMIT and an Assistant Professor at CECS, where his research team focuses on flexible and wearable electronic devices, smart e-textiles, high-throughput thermal drawing, organic electronics, and AI-driven materials discovery. Elevating VinUni’s presence in the global materials chemistry community, Prof. Tung serves as an Early Career Editorial Board Member for Materials Chemistry Frontiers, a highly selective journal co-published by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Chinese Chemical Society that explores the synthesis and structure-property relationships of advanced functional materials.
Prof. Kumar Vikrant
Prof. Kumar Vikrant (TOP 2% Scientist) serves as a Principal Investigator at CMIT and an Assistant Professor at CECS, focusing his research on advanced functional materials for air pollution control, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), heterogeneous catalysis, and smart rare-earth catalysts. He actively contributes to the environmental and materials science literature through several specialized editorial roles. He is an Early Career Editorial Board Member for Elsevier’s Gas Science and Engineering, which focuses on gas science, energy technologies, and sustainable engineering solutions for the global energy sector, and Environmental Advances, which publishes research on environmental sustainability, pollution mitigation, and emerging environmental technologies. He also serves as an Editorial Board Member for MDPI’s Atmosphere, which covers air quality, atmospheric chemistry, and emission science, and as a member of the Topical Advisory Panel for MDPI’s Molecules, focusing on advanced molecular materials and chemical sciences. Furthermore, he contributes as a Review Editor for two Frontiers Media journals: Frontiers in Environmental Chemistry, covering pollutant remediation and environmental processes, and Frontiers in Metals and Alloys, which explores functional and structural materials.
